About Toby Alderweireld

Toby Alderweireld returned to Belgium in 2022, joining Royal Antwerp FC, the club where he received his youth training. As an experienced defender, he quickly became an absolute leader and captain of the team. In the 2022/23 season, Alderweireld played a crucial role in securing the historic Belgian league title, clinching the championship on the final matchday with a spectacular late equalizer against KRC Genk. For his performance, he was named Professional Footballer of the Year. Alderweireld was also a long-standing fixture in the Belgian national team and played an important role during the successful period of Belgium's Golden Generation. Thanks to his leadership, excellent passing, and defensive qualities, Alderweireld is considered one of the best Belgian defenders of his generation.
