Steven Gerrard is an English former footballer widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders and club legends in Liverpool's history. He came through the club's youth academy and made his debut for the first team in 1998. Gerrard became captain and was the heart of the Liverpool midfield for many years. In 2005, he played a pivotal role in the legendary Champions League final against AC Milan, in which Liverpool won the trophy after a historic comeback.
