About David Rocastle

David Rocastle was an English midfielder who completed his entire youth development at Arsenal and became one of the most beloved players in the club's history. He made his first-team debut in 1985 and quickly became a key player in Arsenal's successful team of the late 1980s.

Rocastle played 277 official matches for Arsenal, scoring 34 goals. With the club, he won the First Division twice, in 1989 and 1991, and the League Cup twice, in 1987 and 1993. He was also part of the team that won the FA Cup in 1993.

One of the most memorable moments of his career came in 1989 when Arsenal played Liverpool at Anfield on the final day of the season. Arsenal needed to win by two goals to become champions. In the closing stages, Rocastle provided the assist for Michael Thomas's decisive goal, with which Arsenal spectacularly clinched the league title.

Rocastle was known for his speed, dribbling skills, technique, and powerful runs. His energetic playing style and immense commitment made him a crowd favourite among Arsenal supporters.

Rocastle also represented the English national team. He played 14 international matches and represented England, including at the 1988 European Championship.

David Rocastle passed away in 2001 at the young age of 33 due to lymphatic cancer. His death was a great loss to the football world and especially to Arsenal.

With his talent, loyalty, and significant contributions to some of the most historic moments in the club's history, David Rocastle is remembered as a true Arsenal legend. His name will forever be linked to the rich history of the club.
